Jane Arbuckle and Amanda Devine from the Maine Coast Heritage Trust recount the history of Malaga Island, now owned by the Trust. Malaga Island was once home to an interracial community in the early 1900s. The forcible eviction of all residents of the island due to prejudice and greed of the privileged powers-that-be at that time, including then Governor Frederick W. Plaisted, remains a stain in Maine history. The program was a New Gloucester Historical Society presentation.
